Magic is usually held by those who practice the mystic arts, but there are exceptions. Sometimes rare individuals possess powers that have nothing to do with experience or training: women who can fly, children who can see the future, psychics who can read minds, little boys who can speak to snakes, etc. Among mystics, these powers are collectively known as numina, and those who possess them are doomed to lead exciting lives. Mechanically speaking, numina are powers a gifted individual may intuitively use at will. If you want to create a superhero (or villain) with some specific “power,” these are the rules. Improving these powers with time and practice may be possible at the narrator's discretion, but they are usually static. Some numina are overt and cause a manifestation, while others are subtle and involve innate talent. Below are the most common examples. Remember that no attempt has been made to balance these powers relative to classes and archetypes.
